proxy surfing

Anonymous Proxy Surfing sites are sites that provide you the service of surfing the internet with a different IP address than your own and thus allowing you to hide the location your actual location from websites you visit.

Apart from this obvious advantage to using anonymous proxy surfing, there are several more important benefits to using such sites. There are:

  1. Gain access to websites that have blocked your original I.P. There are many websites that block surfers from accessing their websites by banning/blocking certain I.P addresses. Sometimes, a website may block a whole range of I.P addresses from a particular country for several reasons. By using proxy surfing sites, you get a new I.P. and thus gain access to such websites.
  2. Surf the internet with extra security. Many proxy surfing websites gives you the option to reject all cookies from the websites you visit. By not accepting cookies, you are able to protect your computer from receiving malicious cookies that track your surfing habits and even datamine your computer for sensitive information.
  3. Surf the web faster. Proxy sites also gives you the option to hide images on the sites you visit. Images on those sites will not load when you are surfing their sites – allowing for faster load time.
  4. Surf websites without hiccups. You again can chose not to load any script on the sites you visit. The tool will block all javascripts, vbscripts etc. to provide faster and more secure web surfing experience.
  5. By being able to surf websites anonymously, you can leave comments and feedbacks on sites without fear of repercussion. You have full control to leave your remarks because the site cannot trace your activities on their websites back to you.

Above listed are just some benefits of using a proxy server for surfing the internet.

Anonymous Surfing – Proxy Vs IP Hider Software

anonymous surfing reviews

As you log on to the Internet, your computer is actually initiating communication with other computers in the network by virtue of an IP address. When you connect to different web sites, this IP address is logged in files and are kept in those sites’ servers so that with anything and everything you do online, you are actually leaving behind a trail that is available for those sites you’ve visited. If you’re someone who values your privacy so much, this will not be a very welcome prospect. In fact, you’ll probably start looking for ways to somehow stop being logged by the servers of those sites you frequent.

If you’re thinking of a reliable way around anonymous web surfing, there are two ways to do it. Fist, you can use an anonymous proxy server which is a special Internet service that plays the middleman between your computer and the Internet. This simply means that whatever you do online is brought to the Internet by the proxy server and it will the this server’s IP address that will be going out in public instead of yours. A proxy server usually requires a simple configuration of the browser with only a URL-TCP port number combination. There’s a good number of anonymous proxy servers which offer services for free and are actually open to anyone.

The other way to surf safe is to use an IP hiding software which you can just install in your computer with a few mouse clicks. Basically, when you have this type of software, you can log on to the web using many different IP addresses with your real IP completely hidden. With the many IP’s your computer gets to assume while surfing, it is practically impossible for any hacker to be able to trace your computer in any way.

As far as hiding your IP address is concerned, proxy servers and IP changing software work the same way. They are both reliable hiders of your IP address, but the problem with proxy servers is some of them have been found to abuse their own clients by making use of the information that they are supposed to protect being the proxy servers that they are. For this reason, IP changing software has become more advantageous and preferable. With this software, you simply have to do a simple and quick installation and then you are ready to have your IP hidden while being sure that nobody else is taking advantage of your personal files that you’ve been working to protect.

Anonymous surfing programs have become a positive development in the world of information technology but since there are many of them available, anyone can use some help by browsing through anonymous surfing reviews to determine which one is likely to give a desirable level of satisfaction.

Why Anonymous Proxy Servers Aren’t Safe (And What Is)

Anonymous Proxy Servers

Anonymous proxy servers are very easy to find online. Just do a search and many free, open servers turn up. These all allow you to bypass the filtering software wherever you are, but they do not hide it from snoopers. If you are logged in as a user, your DNS lookups will be logged. Your employer or your school will be able to see what sites you visit based on their logs.

And to make matters worse, many anonymous proxies are run by hackers. When you log in through any anonymous proxy, you are trusting the person running the proxy server isn’t logging your information.

This may not seem like a big deal, but a whole lot of people have the same username and passwords for their Facebook or MySpace as they do for their PayPal or Gmail. Hackers love to get these sort of password lists, and if you look at hacker web sites, they’re full of people trading in usernames and passwords gleaned from forums.

Don’t waste your time with anonymous proxies. There are better, free alternatives out there.

The Onion Router

If you want to make sure nobody can follow your tracks online, if you want positive proof that nobody can find you, the easiest, quickest way is to download The Onion Router. It encrypts your web browsing, so people or governments snooping cannot discover what you’re seeing. This is critically important, because anonymous proxies leak info such as DNS. These can be critical leaks, especially if you’re viewing domains that aren’t allowed for a reason.

DemocraKey

If you want even stronger encryption, you can download and install the free and open source DemocraKey. It is anonymous surfing software that gets installed to a USB key. You plug in your DemocraKey, enter your password, and opens a secure, anonymous web browser.

Even the software is encrypted, so if somebody catches you, and gets your USB key, they can’t prove that you were surfing, or even what you were surfing without your personal passcode. This provides the strongest level of privacy. Much more protection than the Onion Router alone, or anonymous proxy servers alone.

If you want to learn more about web proxies, surfing anonymous, and internet privacy, download the DemocraKey, the strongest, most secure privacy suite. It’s free and Open Source.

Use Safe Proxies and Stay Clear of the Free Anonymous Proxies

Why do People use Anonymous Proxies?

People use these proxies in order to hide their identity and IP addresses from the servers they visit. Instead of logging your IP address, the address of the server (or a false one) will be logged on the web server you visit. This does indeed give you some more privacy than is obtained by default when using HTTP (Hyper Text Transport Protocol).

Why would anyone supply a free anonymous proxy?

Proxies costs a lot of money to run and a free one on the internet costs a small fortune in bandwidth charges. You have to wonder why anyone would supply this service for free. The fact is that they rarely do, the vast majority of free proxy servers are being used without the knowledge of the system administrator. They are simply badly secured internet facing proxies – when they are found they are spread across the internet on lists.

The System administrator will usually find out when his bandwidth bill goes off the scale. One other major reason for the existence of these free proxies is those provided via hacked servers by hacking groups all over the world. Some of these will simply be left open for use, but many will be used to capture user data, passwords and identity information from those foolish enough to use these proxies.

Any method or system of anonymous browsing that uses these numerous free anonymous proxies will be extremely insecure, do yourself a favour and stay away from them.

How Anonymous Proxy Sites Protect Your Anonymity

Posted in Uncategorized on April 11th, 2012 by Private Proxy – Be the first to comment

anonymity

The web is full of all sorts of anonymous proxy sites, web based, socks proxies, transparent proxies and many, many more. People use them to protect their anonymity and shield their IP address, but the simple truth is that these people would probably be safer not using a proxy at all.

Let me give you a very simple analogy for using a proxy server – it’s exactly the same as taking all the letters that you write and instead of posting them giving them to a stranger on the street and asking them to post them for you ! Will he send them? Will he read them first then send them? Well using a proxy is exactly the same you are sending ALL your Web traffic to one server (the proxy) and asking that server to forward all your requests and replies.

The next important point to make that the vast majority of the data you send and receive from your web browser is in clear text, this is because it uses HTTP to send and receive data and HTTP operates in ascii text. That is to say it is all completely readable to anyone who happens to intercept the data stream like the admin of the proxy server maybe.

These anonymous proxies that you find for free on the internet are generally left open either by accident or by hackers compromising the servers and using them as free proxies. Either way would you want all your personal data going through this one server, it’s a huge security risk especially as you probably know nothing about the origin of the proxy server.

Now don’t get me wrong an anonymous proxy is a part of the puzzle of safe browsing but it is only part and if you use a hacked server your taking a huge risk. The anonymous proxy will stop your IP address being logged in the web server you visit though so it does have a use.

If you have access to a fast anonymous proxy which you know well and know who controls it, then great go and use it. You’ll rarely find these for free on the internet though as they will invariably get abused and run very slowly when thousands steal the bandwidth.

Otherwise I suggest not using a proxy at all or paying for the use of a fast secure private proxy or perhaps a solution that is much, much, more than these simple anonymous proxy sites.

Anonymous Proxy Lists – A Dangerous Proxy

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7th, 2012 by Private Proxy – Be the first to comment

anonymous

The concept of anonymous proxy lists are great - especially if you are concerned about protecting your privacy on the internet.   An anonymous proxy will  basically act as an intermediary on the internet and forward all your requests for web sites whilst not revealing your IP address or physical location.   Normally your IP address will be stored on the server logs of any web server you access but when you use an anonymous proxy server then it has no record of your location or IP address.

Ok so this sounds good – that is what anonymous proxy servers are for – to protect your privacy.  The big problem and it is a very big problem is that all your data is actually passed through this proxy server usually completely unencrypted – the data is merely forwarded to it’s destination.

Recently a colleague of mine mentioned to me he was using an anonymous proxy in order to access and play online roulette games.  Because his ISP was based in the USA all of the online casinos wouldn’t let him play due to their online gaming laws.  Of course when he used the proxy server his location was actually given as that of the proxy server (Russia in this case) and he was able to play.   He also told me this was much more secure as his internet activities could not be traced back to his IP address and location.

I’m afraid although there is some truth in this, it is far from a good idea.   To use an anonymous proxy you must have 100% confidence in the integrity of the server and of the people controlling this server.  You are passing all your data mostly unencrypted through this proxy in order for it to forward to the web page you requested.    All your information and personal details can be accessed via the administrators of this proxy server – a simple capture like tcpdump will log every piece of data that passes through.

Guess where my friend got his Anonymous Proxy Server List from

You may have guessed already, it was a list posted on a Russian hacker site.   He was trusting all  his personal information to a proxy server supplied to him by a bunch of Russian hackers.  On a scale of bad ideas it really did rate pretty highly but people do it all the time.   They feel secure by the mere name, anonymous proxy server sounds good doesn’t it until you see Igor sifting through your data one late night looking for passwords and account numbers.

So if you want to use an Anonymous Proxy Server to protect your identity

  • Make sure it is run by a responsible company or organisation
  • Always check the ownership of the anonymous proxy – use a WHOIS lookup to see where IP is registered
  • Even be careful about the above – often a server is compromised and used as an anonymous proxy without the owners knowledge
  • Never use a proxy from a list found floating about the internet
  • Encrypt any data – so it is not readable

I can understand anyones desire to protect their privacy online, there are so many people trying to snoop on our online lives all the way from Governments to hackers, identity thieves and spammers.   They all want to know your data for different reasons but it still seems like spying in my book.

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable with the European Data Directive which  states that all our online data (web sites we access, emails records, mobile phone logs) should be stored for up to 2 years by our ISPs.   The UK Government want to go even further and store all this data in a central database presumably so they can find some way to lose the data.  There are suggestions and litigation happening now that suggest the same thing may be happening in the USA as well – visit  the Electronic Frontier Foundation – http://www.eff.com for details on the cases.

I am sorry but I don’t want hackers, crackers, identity thieves or even my government snooping on what I do on the internet. So I use the most secure and professional service to encrypt and protect my web activities – the excellent Identity Cloaker service – click here to read more about them – Anonymous Surfing Proxies

Anonymous Proxies – What Is An Anonymous Proxy?

Posted in Uncategorized on February 23rd, 2012 by Private Proxy – Be the first to comment

anonymous proxies

Being a computer nerd and active in the IT field for 20 plus years I am constantly asked about anonymous proxies, what they are and why they are needed.

An anonymous proxy is another computer located somewhere else (usually in a foreign country) acting as a server to pass your http requests. In easy to understand terms this means you type in google into your web browser, and your browser has been configured to use a proxy. Instead of fetching the page directly from Google, your web browser will go to the anonymous proxy and then the proxy will fetch the Google page and send it back to you. OK so now you ask “Why would I want to do that?”. When you visit the Google (or any other site for that matter) directly, your web browser passes on information to the website you are visiting. Such information may include your IP address. This is a numerical value assigned to your computer by your ISP and is quite literally the “doorway” to your computer. Armed with your IP address, a hacker could start port scanning your PC looking for weaknesses to take advantage of without you knowing it.

If you visit websites under a proxy, the sites you visit will not see your real IP address but instead the IP address of the proxy. It is very easy to configure your browser to use a proxy by simply changing your settings. Now you ask, “Where can I find a proxy at?”. I see lists all the time that show free “open” proxies. This may not be a good idea as you never know exactly who is behind the proxy. It may well be a honey pot set up by some three letter agency therefore, staying away from the free lists is probably a good idea.

There are commercial services available and one I personally use is Ultimate Anonymity which has been around for over ten years now. They provide proxies as well as a nifty tool to switch proxies on the fly without having to ever touch your web browsers settings to make it really simple.

They also provide an Online Privacy Test to show you exactly what your web browser reveals about you. Note that once you have configured your browser for a proxy you can go back to this page to see that a totally different IP address is showing meaning you have setup properly. this means the first time you visit the page, it will show your real IP address. Once your browser is configured for a proxy and you revisit the page, it should show a different IP address.

In this day and age, privacy is crucial. Its good to remember that if a hacker or phishing website can’t see you, they can’t bother you. Identity theft protection starts with simple things like anonymous proxies and should not be overlooked.

It is always a good idea to have a good anti virus program as well as a properly configured firewall on your computer or network. Privacy services are a good addition, not substitution for these items.

Anonymous Proxy Can Help You Surf Freely

service provides

Sometimes it becomes so frustrating when you are trying to get to a website and you get blocked out as the site will not permit you just because of your location! If you are trying to watch a movie online but the service is not accessible in your part of the world. This can be so annoying and you really hate the place where you are! But now there is a way through which you can freely surf the web without seeing ever seeing the notification that this service is not available in your area. This is called anonymous proxy and it can make you surf the web freely!

It is not that there is anything illegal about visiting a website that doesn’t offer their service in a particular area. Many times this happens because they have physical commodities that they offer in a particular geographical area. So to make it simple for them and to avoid replying to queries to people who are not from that area; sites can place a restriction upon who can and who can’t visit their website.

Sometimes people hire virtual assistants to place orders for them for making purchases online. Having an IP address may keep such a virtual assistant out of that particular website. But having an anonymous proxy will do away with that limitation and make it easy to visit such a site.

Having an anonymous proxy can be fun at times. You can easily watch movies from sites which are not available in your part of the world, or take part in surveys to make money which are not offered in your country.

Having this liberty can enhance your freedom manifolds and at the same time this service provides you protection and anonymity so that you are not tracked by any hacker. Your online footsteps cannot be followed as you will be logging in from a different IP address showing your location at somewhere other than your own location. Nobody will be able to link you to all the visits that you make to one particular site.

If you work online or just browse the internet for fun, you do need to have an anonymous proxy to make your experience flawless, free and secure. This you can only get if you are associated to a virtual proxy network or VPN. This service provides all the facilities to ensure the level of security that you need. You can get daily changing proxy or if needed higher level of security; then you can have that changed to hourly basis as well. This all depends on the type of service you ask for.

The Search for Secure Anonymous Proxies

Posted in Uncategorized on January 27th, 2012 by Private Proxy – Be the first to comment

anonymous proxies

There’s no accurate definition of what comprises secure anonymous proxies or actually a place where you can find them for free. But there are some universal things to look out for if you’re looking for such proxy servers.

A critical point to be kept in mind is that simply by adding a tag to the description of any proxy server actually has no effect on how secure that particular server actually is.

There’s a common substitute server that runs anonymously. This is a lot better since the account has no particular privileges which might turn out to be risky for the server. But it is also not an appropriate configuration for any high unspecified proxy. The cause for this is that the proxy account would still have a few read and write privileges over directories and public areas. It would also have few rights over all the logs which have been created in the anonymous context meaning that all possible users of the proxy have a kind of access to all proxy files and logs created by an anonymous user.

The safest alternative is what is expected to be found on any highly anonymous proxy which means that each user has a definite user ID for using the server. This user account must have no other admission rights at all. This protects the anonymity, security of every user and secures their logs and files from some other surfers using the service.

Configuring anonymous proxies is extremely vital. An insecure and badly configured proxy server puts the users along with their information at risk. Keep in mind that when a proxy server is being used, you’re creating a particular log of your browsing along with your ISP logs – if this is not secured you would be putting the security of the user at a great risk. This must be looked into in case of anonymous proxy servers.
